Qinhuangdao and surroundings
Qinhuangdao stands for the Bohai Sea, coast and the connection to the Great Wall region near Shanhaiguan. The place is not a typical first name on German language China lists.
That is exactly why Qinhuangdao fits Tourism China2049: personally experienced, slightly away from the standard route and useful as an addition to Beijing or Northeast China.

Sea and city feeling separate Qinhuangdao from many inland routes.
A place where historical imagination and landscape meet.
Useful as a link between the capital region and the northeast.
Hotels in China: practical experience
Hotels in China are often better and more affordable than first time visitors expect. Location, current reviews and the question whether you can sleep well on a firm mattress matter a lot.
What does Bohai Sea mean?
Qinhuangdao lies on the Bohai Sea. This is the inner sea area in northeastern China, between the region around Beijing and Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning and Shandong. For travellers, the practical meaning is simple: Qinhuangdao is not a tropical beach destination, but a northern Chinese coastal city with beach, port, promenade and sea views.
Harbour walk: Xigang Garden
A strong place for a walk is Xigang Garden, Chinese 西港花园. The area belongs to the old port of Qinhuangdao and is also described as the Qinhuangdao Port Industrial Tourism Area. That mix is what makes it interesting: harbour atmosphere, old industry and waterfront paths rather than a classic shopping street.
If you have time in Qinhuangdao, it is a good place for an evening walk or a longer round through the harbour area. It feels more like a converted port quarter than a normal pedestrian street.
