JI Hotel, Wuzhishan, Hainan is a clear personal recommendation from own experience. The hotel felt very new, the non smoking room was right, coffee was available for free in the lobby and breakfast on the top floor was very good. For Wuzhishan, it is a strong option, especially if you want to experience Hainan beyond the beach areas.
Dream resort in the green mountains
Four Points by Sheraton Hainan Qiongzhong is a strong personal recommendation. It fits especially well if you do not want to see Hainan only as a beach island, but want to discover a quieter and less touristy area in the green mountains of Hainan.
For a trip into the island's interior, this is exactly the kind of hotel that shows how much more Hainan can be than Sanya, the sea and classic holiday resorts.
